Hi! I’m Ana-Luz.

I’m a multi-racial mama of mixed Mayan-Mam, Irish and Scottish heritage, a Postpartum Doula and a Kangatraining Postpartum Fitness Instructor with training in Lactation Support and chef training in my offerings. I serve clients on traditional ancestral lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, or what is known as Vancouver, Burnaby, North Vancouver, and surrounding areas.

I am a member of the Nesting Doula Collective.

We provide care and support to Black, Indigenous and communities of colour including immigrants and refugees, at all stages of their reproductive journey from conception to postpartum. I am also a registered Postpartum Doula for Doulas for Aboriginal Families Grant Program.

Our approach upholds the principles of informed consent, culturally appropriate care, and community connection. We are a growing collective of Black, Indigenous, and people of colour who are trained in providing professional, empowering, and anti-oppressive Doula support to our diverse clients and families.

My story

Postpartum is forever. As a parent, and birthgiver I have come to understand this in many ways. Care-giving is not easy. I believe raising a family is not to be done alone. We need community to survive the ups and downs and turns that care-giving throws at us. And if we want to thrive and enjoy this experience, we need community support that feels reflective of who we are, and to hold the many parts of ourselves as we navigate a whole new identity.

I have been so honoured to have supported over 35 families, and I hope to be a part of empowering future generations in feeling held, heard, and equipped with tools to thrive.

  • “Ana-Luz was such great company in my early postpartum days. She is so down to earth, reassuring and easy to relate to with her own experiences in labour, parenthood and as a doula. And she is a phenomenal cook. I always looked forward to her meal drop offs, and the yummiest ever bone broth!”

  • “We are thankful to Ana-Luz for helping us out when we needed it most. Her kindness and generosity was much appreciated. We will remember these early days fondly and I am so grateful for having her by my side guiding us. We will miss you.”

  • "Ana-Luz, I just wanted to say thank you so much for your services. My friend was so impressed and you don't understand the peace of mind, [postpartum] support, mental health and just so many things that you provided support on. I am highly recommending you to so many of my friends. You have such a beautiful way with these moms, and kids, and dads and you're just a perfect person to do this. So thank you and I just really wanted to send my gratitude and appreciation.

I was raised in a queer-single-parent household. I navigated family trauma at a young age and am in the midst of healing generational trauma.

I’ve spent almost two decades in kitchens making food for communities I care about. Chef work never fully leaves me, and I’m likely found in a kitchen here or there cooking for special events and teaching youth to cook.

I have recently graduated a lactation doula mentorship with Shahrzad Tayebi of Mama Milk.

I am very interested in learning more about my ancestral mayan roots and rituals for postpartum care. Vaginal steaming is next on my list of education growth.

I live, work, and grow on the lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples

whose lands were never ceded, and are in deep destruction from colonial-white supremacy culture. The land that thrived from the care and healing rhythms with the indigenous peoples who called it home. I hope to amplify indigenous voices and ways of being in tune with the land for community health and healing.
